Your Mom Jeans...Not Your Mom's Jeans!
Posted on 28 March 2017
My style has definitely evolved since becoming a mom. Not only has my body changed but also my mindset which comes along with the title "MOM". Now that being said, in no way does that mean boring and frumpy. These days a mom at any age can still look put together and chic with very little effort.
The item that I reach for over and over again whether it's getting dressed to go into the office, running errands or even a night out are my high waist jeans. I've always been into the high waist look even when everyone was wearing the super low rise (I did jump on the band wagon though) Maybe it's the 70's feel that I've always loved or maybe it's because to me they just seem a bit more put together. I can dress them down with sneakers or sandals and a tee and then add a sky high heel and off the shoulder top to go out at night. It's a no brainer...and when all else fails it's what I reach for and to be honest what I feel I look best in anyway.
That being said I wanted to share my favorites with you.
The Phoebe by AGJeans...This ladies is my holy grail! I have it in a couple of washes, this one above is my favorite but unfortunately it is sold out at the moment. I also have this wash and I absolutely love it. Find it here.
These jeans are 100% Cotton, so there is no stretch. I usually order one size up to ensure a good fit. There is something about a pair made from 100% Cotton! If you find the right pair that fits perfectly I don't think any other jean can compare. I usually wear these to go out with an ankle boot or a heel and an off the shoulder top (literally my uniform)
I just ordered this one from Lovers + Friends and can't wait to wear it out for date night with the hubby.
If your looking for a jean with some stretch my favorite is The Rocket by Citizens of Humanity. These have a super high rise waist and make my legs look a mile long ( ok, maybe a bit exaggerated but when you're 5'3" anything helps)
Again, these I wear over and over again and I do own them in a distressed version as well. I like to pair these with one of my favorite tees.
I've always been obsessed with anything off the shoulder, it gives your outfit a little more sex appeal without being overtly sexual. This tee from LNA fits the bill perfectly.
For my everyday denim I like to wear a pair that doesn't break the bank that I can still look good in, but not stress about sitting on the floor or getting a stain on them.
If you don't already own a pair of Levi's 721 High Rise, do yourself a favor and buy a pair STAT! Not only are these super flattering and a great price point but you will literally see these on every bloggers instagram or blog page. Levi's practically invented denim, so if anyone is going to do it right they are. These are an affordable pair that will last!
The Gap High Rise True Skinny
Now, I used to shy away from the Gap. I worked there half a summer while I was in college to make enough money to go to Greece for the other half of the summer. After that year I swore I would never buy another Gap product again, I had just gotten tired of the looking at the style everyday. Fast forward many years later to when I became pregnant and they actually were the only brand that had a decent and affordable maternity line. That being said I decided to try their high rise true skinny denim recently and I have to say I am guilty of owning them in every color. The fit is great and they are really comfortable for everyday errands.
I'm also a bit obsessed with their vintage Linen V-Neck tees. These are super comfortable and affordable.
So there you have it ladies...my version of the "Mom Jean".
