Let's Hear it for New York...

This past weekend we had a booth at the Archangel Michael Greek Festival which is held every year at the end of September at Hempstead Beach Park. The festival itself is amazing with so many fun rides, lots of yummy Greek food and so many volunteers helping their church out. I honestly haven't seen so many people young and old coming together to help raise money for their parish. Some volunteered their time by cooking at the event, I spoke to an old friend from high school who told me she had been baking cookies all week long to be sold at the event, others helped out by selling candy, helping with clean up and other various jobs that helped keep the festival running smoothly. It really is such a great community and we were so happy to be invited back. Even though this wasn't my church, they really did make us feel so welcomed.
During our three days there we met so many new and wonderful people that fell in love with our stuff but it meant so much to us that so many people remembered us from last year and were so excited to see us back again. Seeing their kids wearing our clothes and coming back for new threads just put the biggest smile on our faces. They told us how much they loved the stuff they got last year and couldn't wait to put their kids in something from this season's collection. We even met a mom named Allison, who shops from us regularly and lives only a few streets away from Sabrina. She picked up some really cool stuff for her little boy and girl and told us that she is constantly getting asked where she shops for her kids.
On Saturday night they have this big fireworks show at 9pm. The place was so packed that they had to close the parking lot and start shuttling people over with buses. Minutes before the fireworks went off I believe was the highlight of our weekend. We had the pleasure of meeting our very first online customer Giselle. As many of you know we launched on Labor Day 2015 and literally within 15 minutes of going live she purchased something from us. She has continued to be a very loyal and valued customer and we finally got to meet her, her husband and her beautiful boys that night. It really left Sabrina and I smiling the rest of the weekend because it was such a special moment for us. The funny thing is she grew up a block away from me, went to the same elementary school as I did and also went to NYU at the same time as I did but we never knew each other.

Starting a business is hard and you second guess yourself all the time wondering if you are making the right decisions, but seeing everyone this weekend and how they reacted to our clothes and just being able to interact with everyone made us feel like we are on the right path.

Thank you to everyone that helped make this weekend so special for us and thanks for stopping by!
